About the AHA

The Alberta Handgun Association was incorporated in 1977, and is dedicated to promoting the ISSF, Olympic and NRA target shooting disciplines of handgun competition.  The AHA has a large volunteer base who are actively involved in organizing and supporting local, provincial, and national competitions.

Our organization provides a number of services to our members and member clubs.
These services include:
  • Range Officer certification courses
  • Nationally accredited coaching certification courses
  • Insurance for our members and member clubs
  • Help in starting and developing junior programs in outlying areas
  • High performance training camps for competitive shooters
  • Help in organizing and running learn-to-shoot programs
  • Assistance in running local and high level matches
  • Athlete assistance for high-level athletes
  • Scholarships for members attending post secondary education
